One last post and then we're off! L.A. tomorrow after surf camp and then we fly out Saturday morning.
Today is crazy hair day at VBS and yesterday was PJ day. Jack wasn't interested in participating ("Dat's dumb!"), but Lainey and Jessie sure were!
Kelly and I took Carter to camp on Wednesday.
It is SO fun. Carter is already sad it only lasts a week. Caroline treated him to this fun camp and we will be back again and again.
Thank you, again, Carowine.
Sometimes I can't believe my 10 year old can do what he does.
A little surfing info for you. The longer the board, the easier it is to surf (typically). We currently have a 9 foot soft board at home. Instructors said he should be using a 7. Which means, Carter wants a 4-5 foot one.
Shorter boards enable you to do the fun stuff you see the pros do......cutting into the waves and 'shredding'.
He tried it. Too early.
Surf camp doesn't mean there isn't a lot of play time, too.
His main instructor is Kellen, whom you see here in the blue. He insists all the kids say something along the ways of "Teach me, Master Surfer. Show me the way to be as good as you." before he'll give them a push.
Awesome.
Break time.
OK, this is funny.
Although this first pic is fuzzy........try to get a feel for Carter's face and his show off attitude toward this girl surfing next to him. Behind him currently.
"Whuuuuuuuuttttt? How did that happen?"
"Huh."
A little humility is always good for a kid like Carter.
Sand castle tournament in progress.
What ARE they making??????????
Kelly and me on the pier. We were Delta Gamma pledge sisters 17 years ago. Love her.
Yesterday was the perfect California day. 70's......sunny.....with a breeze.
God, I love this place.
There's the final product, taken from a different angle.
Get your mind out of the gutter, ladies. It's a lobster.
Back yesterday afternoon for some fun, beach side.
Oh, yes, we did.
Pardon me, sirs. I'm not so sure about this.
Baby girl loved this cruiser.
We rode up and down the strand and saw parts we had not seen before. We typically camp out north of the pier.......but south has some fun stuff, too.
Left to do:
*my haircut and color (blonder, blonder!)
*finish packing
*several errands
*organize house sitters
*breathe
Next post from the white sand beaches and crystal blue waters of Destin, Florida!
