Random Scoop

Lots of random bits today!

I saw most of the nominees for Oscar's Best Picture.

Not the "best" in my opinion, but my favorite was Silver Linings Playbook.  I saw it twice, which is super rare for me.  I loved it.  Complex and unusual and it just made me so happy.

Bradley Cooper just keeps getting better and better.

I'm solo this week with kids, as Blake heads to Texas to see our niece, Rylee Cameron, arriving any day now.  Britney is more than ready!  Pregnancy #3 is a taxing one.

Carter continues on in the playoffs with a qualifying game this Wednesday night.

Just a few pics to highlight us loving where we live.

Mega bubbles off the Oceanside Pier.

Took the kids out to Ruby's for Valentine dinner.  Jack saw this sign.

"Wook at dis!  No bandaids.  What a bunch of foolws."

Couldn't love that kid more.

Just started the book, Swamplandia.  Have had several people recommend it.  Excited to learn more about it.  I've read a lot of books lately, but none that I absolutely loved.

Back soon!

Visit With My Big Brother

Hope yall are having a great holiday weekend! We started ours off with a drive into San Diego to see my brother, Chris.

At Coyote Cafe, in Old Town.  One of our favorites.

Off to the zoo next.  No better zoo in the nation, as far as I can tell.

It even has sleeping bears!

Skyfari!  Little ones wanted to ride with Chris.  Carter, too, but I insisted he come with me.  :)  Didn't want to ride alone!

Chris and I both laughed because the zoo was busy with activity.  It was our best visit yet......animals were very entertaining!

Uncle Chris is a pretty funny guy.

We had a great time.

Can't wait for a visit with Aunt Laura.

In other news:

Ski trip is booked.  We'll have only one wee skier this year.  Jack wants to snowboard.  Got a cabin this year.  We'll go up early one Friday in March and stay through Sunday.  Can't wait!

Carter's basketball team is ranked first in his league.  They won their first play off game on Saturday.  Such a fun season!

Happy Mardi Gras!

The Davidges threw a fabulous Mardi Gras party on Friday.

It was nothing short of spectacular with all the works.

Tigers represent!

Mike and Holly.

Refreshments.

Awesome food included muffalettas, jambalaya, shrimp bowtie pasta, king cake and more.

Mike and me.

And, with Blake.

Love this pic of the boys dancing.

Such a fun night!

I may have been born and raised in Texas, but my heart belongs to Louisiana.

Scoop

Random scoop today.

 Biddy ball was a success!

Here is Laine shortly after MAKING A BASKET!

So, so happy.

Just before the Awards Ceremony.

Each child said his or her name and then received the award.

"Lainey!"

"Jack Starnes!"

How sweet is that face?

Blake did his best to wrangle the monkeys into a straight line.

Such a fun season.

Last team cheer!

I'm so glad Jack and Lainey got to do this together. It was an awesome experience for everyone.

After several years, our old bedding had to go.  On to newer and brighter.

Need some accent pillows and we're set!

Our master bedroom gets lots of light with the french doors and so I wanted something that was slightly tropical, but not over-the-top.  Happy to find this.

A few weeks ago, I was woken to the sound of our closet hanging rod crashing to the ground. It was bound to happen. Too much on it.

Blake emptied it and prepared to re-build.

Even seeing this picture now gives me anxiety.  Seriously.

But, we're back in business with more organization, better shelving and a sorted closet space.  Thank you, Blake!  He really did an awesome job.

Lots of fun events coming up.

*Visit from Uncle Chris.

*Ski trip to Big Bear.

*Visit from Caroline and a Disney getaway.

*Spring Break!

*Visit from Jillian.

Busy spring.......time to plant flowers and prepare for the sunshine.  I hear the beach calling our name!

Books - Need Help!

I'm in a slump.

Still reading about a book a week, but I haven't read much lately that I loved.

Currently reading The Invisible Thread.  It's good.  But, I'll be done with it soon and on to the next.

What am I missing?

 I need some suggestions!
