Happy Baby Boy

A few pictures from an evening out in the back yard recently.

Maybe one of my favorites of all time.... Click for a close up. He looks so sweet here.

The "snorty pig" is back. To see the original snorty pig and it's debut, check out the older post here.

Daddy's a snorty pig, too.

Seeing an airplane and reaching up for it.

Such a great kid. We are so blessed.

More Fittings

We bought Jack a snow suit at the end of last season at a great price. I guessed at his size of course and estimated a bit too aggressively. This is a 2T and I think he needs at least a size smaller. It swallowed him!!!!

He was a good sport, though....wore it around the house a bit and tried to get used to the hood. Our kids have never taken kindly to hats or things on their heads, so this year will be a challenge keeping those little ears warm.

A few pictures of the fitting....

Castle Rock Friends

A couple of pictures of Carter at a friend's bowling birthday party in Castle Rock a few weeks ago. He loved his buddies on our street, so we've tried to keep in contact with them, even though they're now at different schools and a distance away from each other.

Paeton is on the left.....then Gavin....and Brayden. They are a wild bunch!

The Countdown

Carter is anxiously awaiting 2 events right now. Both seem to be of high importance and I can only blame myself for him weighing the two equally.

1. Lainey's birth is 12 days away.

2. The Halloween costumes arrive at Target in 12 days.

We know this because we've been asking since, Oh, about August 1. As soon as July is gone, my mind immediately focuses on the fall...which makes no sense at all...because August is by far the hottest month of the year for Texas and Colorado has proved likewise. For some reason, the word August conjures up pictures of fall leaves and pumpkins and it absolutely drives Blake insane.

So, Carter and I try to keep our fascination to a quiet minimum in the house, but both anticipate the season's arrival like it's Christmas. In fact, in this house, you might say we love Halloween as much as Christmas. We just try not to say that out loud too much.

Always the proud big brother, you can hear Carter telling people about Lainey and her date arriving soon, but it's never without a mention of the costumes arriving at Target, too. Blake overheard him on the playground this morning reporting just that. This sweet old lady was delighted to hear about his baby sister's birth and then seemed confused at the costume comment. Blake didn't even bother explaining.

Monitoring Jack

Jack has become quite the adventurous baby lately. He's much more of a climber than Carter ever was, which keeps us on our toes. Here he is on the kitchen table going through the fruit basket. He knows exactly how to get on each piece of furniture and it won't be long until he's on the island in the kitchen. Or the counters. Or the roof.

One of the funniest parts of this scenario is how we find him. Of course, we try to keep an eye on him at all times, but realistically, that does not happen. Occasionally, Carter will discover him and make a simple announcement, so casually and in such a manner that you would think he were not worried at all. For example:

"Mom, Jack's on the kitchen table."

"Mom, Jack's hands are in the toilet."

"Mom, Jack's kissing Batman again."

Then, he goes on with his life....pleased with himself for enlightening us....and never without a certain unintentionally condescending tone like...."You really should do something about that."
