Greek Day & News!

First, I joined Carter on Friday afternoon for what is called Greek Day at school.  I was not going to miss this. 6th graders do not often invite parents to participate in anything!

I don't love this picture of me.....but do of Carter.  Our sweet, happy kid.

Greek Day consists of Olympic related games and all sorts of fun.  So glad I was able to go.

And, in other news, my beloved job at the theatre is winding down.  I have loved every minute of it and am very sad to leave.  Will continue from home with social media and supporting them through volunteer work as I can......but my Monday-Friday commitment is too much with kids.

I have been struggling with this decision for some time now.  It worked beautifully for a while, but Blake's job has become very demanding and my family needs me at home again.

And, with all that said......with all things considered.......my decision to resign is fully validated when I pick up Jack in the afternoons.  Every day, I get an update on the countdown.

"5 more days, Mom, until you're home."

That's all I needed to hear.

So, a transition awaits us and lazy summer days at the beach are in my future.

Not a thing wrong with that!

Scoop

Busy at the Starnes house.

School is winding down.  CCD is nearly over.  Summer is approaching!

We are so ready for summer.  Our first year with 3 in school......it's exhausting!  The littles have more homework than I did in high school.  Seriously.  But, they are brilliant, as a result.  All worth it.

A few recent outings:

Dinner on the pier one evening......some fishing (sans fishing line - totally my kind!) prior to eating.

Never gets old.....I treasure where we live.

Thursday brought the weekly Sunset Market here in town.

Such a simple, fun evening out.  Inexpensive and easy.

Look close.  That's Jack.

I took this wild one out to lunch on Saturday.  Girls day!  Blake took the boys to see a movie and Lainey and I walked Carlsbad.

Well, Lainey did more dancing than walking.

Such a beautiful mess.

Harbor visits are becoming the norm for Sundays after church.

And, we ventured into Balboa Park afterwards.  My newest mission.....to familiarize myself with the park.  I know nothing.  It's a total tragedy!  We know Disneyland, the San Diego Bay, the San Diego Zoo and lots of Oceanside.

Time for Balboa Park!

The Reuben H Fleet Science Museum is super cool.

Punks.

Saw this Imax movie.  And, didn't vomit.  Progress!

Couldn't be prettier.

So much more to see!

Blake is in Los Angeles for work this week......Carter wears a toga to school on Friday......Jack has me scheduled for an upcoming field trip......and Lainey is driving.

Oh, wait.  Moving too fast.

Lainey isn't driving.  Feels like that some days!

I wish I could slow it all down.

Spring Break Wrap Up

It was a ton of fun!

We kept busy.

Dyed eggs with the McNamaras......

Walked Temecula Old Town.

Visited Seaport Village.....saw the Easter Bunny.....and enjoyed the San Diego Bay.

Get down, Laine.

Easter arrived early on Sunday.

And, just like in years past, the bunny left in a hurry, spilling his snack on the way out.

Dressed up for mass.

These guys crack me up.  All so different.

At the church......

And, at brunch in La Jolla.  Went to Flemings.......prime rib and fancy glasses (according to Lainey).

It was a great week!

Now we are back to school routine with 66 days left in the year. Kids are counting.

Hope you had a good Easter!
