It's The End Of An Era

Six Flags Over Texas was a huge deal to my siblings and me as kids. Still is, actually! We started taking Carter when he was born and he fell in love with it, too.

One of our favorite rides, The Cliffhanger, was demolished recently to make room for a new fancy one. We're heartbroken! Caroline convinced Carter to ride this a few years ago and although he's still recovering from the horror, he's proud of his accomplishment.

This ride was a rite of passage for us as kids and we're so sad it's gone. Take a look at the video in this article of the demolotion.

Lainey

Just a quick photo of Lainey. It was brought to my attention recently that I haven't posted pics of her lately. Seems as though all of our pictures have been outside doing things she cannot. We haven't forgotten about her!

She's doing well and adjusting to life in this crazy house with 2 loud boys. At first it startled her, but now Jack will come screaming through the hall with his Elmo car making all sorts of racket and it will barely phase her.

Caroline arrives today....finally.....to meet her namesake and to visit for a few days. We can't wait to see her!

Saturday

Saturday was a busy day including Carter's football game, a drive into the mountains and then a nice dinner at home provided by Chris and Becky.

Jack starting his morning with a Red Bull and checking his email.

The boys at the game.

Carter watching his teammates.

And, him in action.

Jack watching big brother.

Carter playing quarterback. In his last game, Carter threw a pass to a player and it was actually caught!!! The fact that they execute plays in this league and that they completed a pass far exceeded my expectations!

Game over. The Lions won!

In Estes Park, waiting for lunch.

So many pretty parts of the town.

We went to an Elk Festival that day.

Lots of wolves there....kind of scary.

Lots of leaves changing and the weather ended up being beautiful after a chilly start.

This part was amazing, but unnerving. It seemed as though it was too good to be true to be so up close and friendly with these elk. They are real...and there were a ton of people too close for comfort, which scared me a bit and so we kept the babies in the car and Carter in reach. I just kept thinking that someone should be filming this for a "When Animals Attack" documentary once these guys turn on us!

We decided this guy was in charge.

More Estes beauty....

One of the few pictures I got of my parents and even Barbara who hates having her picture taken!!!! I got you, Barbara!!!!

Becky and Chris.

The "haunted hotel", as Carter calls it. We stayed here during our last visit.

Headed For The Playoffs

The Colorado Rockies won the Wild Card last night after a very exciting 13 inning tiebreaker game.

Visit With Chris and Becky

On Friday afternoon, my brother Chris and his girlfriend, Becky, came in to spend the weekend with us. Chris will be Lainey's Godfather at her baptism this winter.

In the back yard that afternoon....

We went into Boulder that evening for dinner and a walk through Pearl Street.

It was Colorado University's Homecoming weekend. Big crowds!

Ralphie, the mascot, made an appearance which Carter LOVED.

My Aunt Barbara came to visit, too, and bought each of the boys a special gift from Powell's Candy Store. I love the Fisher Price phone she bought for Jack, as it's a replica of one I played with as a kid.

And, Carter beaming with joy after he got his R2D2 giant Pez dispenser.

Street performers.

A stop at the rock playground.
