Soccer Season Wrap Up

We actually finished on Halloween......last game........party the next day with an awards ceremony......trophies handed out. Trading in football for soccer this season proved to a huge success.

Just look at the smile on this kid's face. That is pure joy.

Little brother spent a lot of time by the bench.....hanging out with Carter.....glad he didn't make a big fuss over this. Love to see them together.

Lainey bug spent a lot of time on the sidelines being cute.

So far, it's her best talent.

That, and applying sugar cookie lip balm.

Blake spent a lot of time chasing kids off the field.

"Don't cross that line. Don't do it!"

He did it. Shocker.

Lainey did, too.

The little ones' favorite part......the tunnel at the end of the game.

Sweet Blake recreates it for them. Best daddy ever.

Temperamental Jack declined on his turn. Such a punk sometimes. Look at that pouty walk. Caroline, does that remind you of the Christmas picture of you and Carter....by the fireplace in our Keller house.....about the same age.....being a mega-brat?!

And, look at this enthusiastic player. Carter melts my heart sometimes. So full of life. Nothing could make me happier as a parent.

All the boys soaked their coach at the end of the last game. I thought this was hilarious.....and so cute.....and funny.......until I learned Carter was the instigator. It's not always easy being the mother of the class clown......even on the soccer field.

We're not a back-to-back sports family......so we'll take time off for some winter fun. There's a great ski resort just 30 minutes away. Hilly enough for the kids to learn to ski and Carter can sharpen his snowboarding skills on the terrain park. We can't wait to try it out.....have heard it's a ton of fun after the new year!

And, then spring might bring another Starnes boy out to the soccer field.

Yes.

Jack.

Is the world ready?

Soccer

First game on Saturday.....he loved it. Hasn't played since he was 3...barely 3 years old, mind you...(this should be illegal)....but it was crazy fun....Blake and I coached his team.

In the past few years, he's played football in the fall - both flag and tackle - and we felt like switching things up this year. So glad we did.

Doesn't he just look like a pro here?

That is a Casey profile if I've ever seen one.

Soccer is a fun change from football where sports got serious quickly. Not sure we should be so serious when he's still this young.

And, to our delight, he's really good at it! We had nothing to go on because 3 year old soccer consists of picking grass and watching airplanes fly over. But, Carter has some skills. Here he is after his first goal.....one of the only two scored today in their season opener.

Lainey missed it all because her dog had to eat. "Puppy hondy, Mama!" Priorities, people.

Back to the game.....he comes alive on the field......rallying his team and cheering his teammates on. I'm so happy he's having so much fun.

The crew post-game. Yes, Jack's shoes are on the wrong feet. He prefers them that way.

Flag Football

Carter started Flag Football on Monday night. They'll practice twice and then have their first game on Saturday!!!! I can assure you it will be total chaos.

A few pictures from practice...

Diving for the ball, but it gets past him. Doesn't matter. He looks good and they all seem very concerned with throwing themselves on the ground as much as possible.

And, he's off. Cones are SO much fun.

Team huddle.
