Can This Be Real?

I am immediately skeptical of just about anything slightly unusual on-line, so not sure what to think of this video. However, www.snopes.com provides the following summary and reason to believe it's real.

I’ll bet you've never seen a pet like the one in this Video of the Day. In 1969, two friends, John Rendall and Ace Berg, purchased a lion. At the time, Christian the lion was a 35-pound cub. He had been born in a zoo. The friends raised Christian in their London home. All three hung out in a friend’s furniture shop on the weekends.

Within a year, Christian had grown to 185 lbs. Rendall and Berg realized they couldn’t keep him much longer. But they didn’t know what to do with him. A chance encounter changed that. Two actors from the film Born Free walked into the furniture store.

The actors recommended a conservationist, George Adamson, living in Kenya. Christian was soon in Africa. There he was rehabilitated and released into the wild.

In 1974, Rendall and Berg decided to visit Christian one last time. He was now a wild animal. Adamson told them it was doubtful that Christian could be found. No one had seen him in nine months.

The two flew to Kenya, anyway. On the day they landed, Christian appeared outside Adamson’s camp. Somehow, he knew. He waited outside the camp until Rendall and Berg arrived.

Home with nothing to do but play in the back yard, cook out, and enjoy the pretty weather. Write this one down....it's rare that we're home!

The Dragon Boat Festival

Last weekend, we took the kids out to The Dragon Boat Festival at Sloan Lake in Denver. It was super hot, but a very interesting day with tons of different cultures for the kids to experience and learn from.

Elitch Gardens....Again

Have I already posted these pictures? They are getting repetitious. Sorry. There are just a few cute ones from our last trip out to Elitch's. It would seem as though we spend a fortune there because theme parks are not cheap, but we really don't.

Season passes get us in for free each time, we paid for a parking pass at the beginning of the summer, and we bring our $1 refill thermoses in each time we go. A few pretzels here and there and other occasional food and that's about it! We only go for a couple hours, too, during the hot summer months.
