A Guinness World Record

Last weekend was quite exciting for us and memorable, too! Carter participated in achieving a Guinness World Record for painting-by-number at the Denver Art Museum.

Our day started out at the Stapleton Farmer's Market for some fresh produce. Carter's lips are blue here because of a snow cone and some sour candy.

Jack didn't care for the sour candy!

A stop in at this great book store called Simon Says Read! entertained Carter for a while. They put on a great puppet show.

And, to the museum....

Carter can appreciate just about any art which includes some sort of skull in it.

Working on a sculpture. I quickly scooped Jack up to tour the art work while Carter worked hard on mimicking the adjacent piece of art.

His version....

The actual one....

Another good one, according to Carter.

Here is the cool part....Carter's participation. We always knew Carter was the type of kid to make history, but didn't realize it would be so early. :)

The canvas was over 400 feet long and included 3,344 participants ranging in age from 1 year old to 90.

Back to the museum for some more art appreciation. This was an interactive exhibit designed after bubbles.

And, here is Carter at one of the kid activities.

Out to City Park for some time running around.

Wind River Canyon

A few pictures from Blake's drive a few weeks ago through Wind River Canyon in Wyoming. Even though we live near Denver, most of Blake's offices are located in Wyoming, South Dakota and Nebraska. So, he has the great privilege of driving through this beautiful part of the country. We can't wait to join him....as soon as our little girl arrives and the babies are more travel friendly.

Two Hard Working Boys

As posted about previously, Blake has been working with our neighbor on building the fence between our two houses. Every other part of our fence was complete upon purchasing our home. We thought this would be an easy project and something that could save us some money because the estimate from our contractor came in ridiculously high. Plus, the cost should be shared since the fence will benefit both families.

In retrospect, we would have paid 3 times the amount of the original estimate to have this fence done!!!! It's been a real hassle and more costly than we had expected. We're still saving money, but it's been a pain.

The one good thing that did come from this project is some quality father-son time working on the fence together. Carter was so cute bringing over pickets for Blake to nail in and then breaking every few minutes for water and popsicles.

It should be done this weekend....only a little bit left to do....which includes the detail on the top of the fence. Then, we're pretty much done working on the house for the season.

The Fountain Park

While Blake worked on building our fence last Saturday, I took the boys on a walk down to the neighborhood fountain park. It is just a few minutes from our house and is really refreshing on a hot summer's day.

Click on this one below for a close up. I love seeing Carter so amused by Jack. They are really becoming close friends.

Berry Patch Farms

We had such a good time Tuesday morning at a local farm called The Berry Patch. We went to pick berries and to experience a taste of life on the farm.

I expected Carter to be mildly interested....after all he's a great sport when I take him to new or unusual places. He loved it!!!! I wasn't at all ready for so much enthusiasm.

The cute barn where we got started.

Carter chasing the hens and roosters.

He was very impressed with this one on the table.

We took a ride out to the berry patch.

Time to get busy!

The ride back....one pint picked.

More visiting with the hens and in this case, the turkey.

There are places to pull carrots out of the ground, options for beautiful flowers, fresh basil, etc.

Who's been eating berries?!

Carter actually picked a full pint, but by the time we made it back to the house, only 1/2 was left.
