Stepping Out To Cure Scleroderma

Saturday morning brought beautiful Colorado weather to accompany us at the 3K walk we've been anxiously waiting for. In honor of Aunt Caroline, we walked the Stepping Out To Cure Scleroderma walk in Denver. We've done many Susan G. Komen Races for the Cure over the years, so we were excited to participate in this event for such a good cause and one that is so close to our hearts.

As written about previously, we raised money for the foundation through www.firstgiving.com/carolineclemens. In total, we brought in $2,110.00 for the cause, well exceeding our goal of $1,000.00. In addition to our on-line donations, Carter presented checks and cash gathered from Caroline's fellow teachers at Allen High School in the amount of $475.00. They were thrilled! Without knowing it, we actually raised more money than any of the other participants at the race. Thanks to each and every one of you who donated......small and large...we had donations come in at $2.00 and all the way up to $300.00. Each one made a difference and the foundation was delighted to see our progress.

There is still time to donate if you wish.....the site will be up until the next race rolls around in 2008.

So, thanks again! Several pictures from the event....

For my best friend, sister, Godmother to my children, super-aunt and Scleroderma-fighting hero, Caroline.

Carter requested this one, close up, and said, "Put this on the website and say 'Peace out to you and yours'."

The walk was at 7:30am at Cherry Creek State Park. It's a beautiful location.

The walk....

3K was plenty for us.

Carter spent part of the walk moving rolly-pollies from the trail so that they didn't get squashed.

Taking a break.

There were gorgeous pelicans on the water nearby.

The big finish!

Jack, on the move....finally walking more these days. No rush necessary if you ask me!
