Too Much?

Jack's 6th birthday is right around the corner and I've pretty much sacrificed laundry, house cleaning, hygiene and meals to prepare for it.  Don't judge.  These parties are winding down.  Carter is too cool for big celebrations and prefers a simple soccer game, In-N-Out and a sleepover.  Easy peasy.  My days of color coordinated plates and party favors are treasured right now.

Bigfoot is the theme.  I've gathered a ridiculous amount of Bigfoot material (who knew?), including labels for their "Bigfoot Hunting Water" that they'll take into the back yard for a hunt.  They'll find tracks and other fun stuff while en route.

Here's where I might have de-railed:

I've searched for and located a Bigfoot (read: gorilla) suit.  I would like to have Carter make a quick run by beyond our iron fence as the kids are searching.  In the costume.  A true "Bigfoot sighting".

Cool, yes?

Blake thinks I've lost it.  He thinks we'll have the police at our door, neighbors calling TV shows and kids screaming bloody murder.  We'll have a range of children.....so yes, the 2 year olds must be taken into consideration.

Thoughts?

Too much?

Heck, no, it's not too much! If any of the little ones get upset, they'll stop crying and this is for Jack! He will remember this one so take lots of pictures! Have a great time!

I think it's awesome!!!! My sister-in-law had my brother dress up as a pirate and a super hero for both of their boys' b'day parties back in September and it was a HUGE hit!! The pirate actually scared the kids at first (picture Jack Sparrow) because he came from behind the bushes, but then he lead them on a treasure hunt around the house. I wasn't there, but I heard all about it and wish I was. Tell him that if he says too much that HE gets to wear the costume and do the job. I can't wait to see pics! I SUCK at throwing parties, so I enjoy watching other people do it. : )

I think you should go for it...although I remember being scared to death at the circus by a gorilla suit.

Go for it!! It is different for girls. I don't think Sydney will ever get tired of the parties and decorations.

Umm...I think this is an AMAZING idea! We watch Finding Bigfoot all the time, and I'm pretty sure that if you do this, a video of a "bigfoot sighting" will be sent in to the show from some neighbor who didn't know it was Carter! That'd be hilarious :)

I think you should do it. If it's just a quick Bigfoot sighting the littlest kids will probably not even notice. I love planning parties too so I love your ideas.

One more thing....Bigfoot needs to have on a tie or bow-tie for sure! Jack style!

What parent wouldn't love to console their traumatized 6 year old for the next 2 years at bedtime? I think you should absolutely do it!

If I were you, I'd move shortly after the birthday party. You will get hate mail and maybe some bricks through the window but it will be worth it.

I have to agree, do it! Especially if Jack would love it that is really all that matters. Hope you all have a great time!

Who calls the cops on a Bigfoot sighting? Blake is being dramatic. And I think Blake is a Saint.

Will you please come to kc and plan my next birthday party? Or do Hattie's? I love the gorilla suit idea and find it waaaaaaay less scary than a clown! :) Enjoy and happy birthday Jack! Loving the new bow tie!

LOVE it! And I hadnt even thought about birthday parties eventually being simplified. Kind of great; kind of sad. More reason to convince John to let me throw a bash for Sula's second birthday party (the second will be back in TN.)

Good god you are the best mother ever. EVER. Carter in a bigfoot suit? Not even close to too much. I think it's hands down flippin' fabulous.

NEVER TOO MUCH FOR OUR KIDS!!! Hello, my son is turning 9 this year and has asked for a BIGFOOT party. I ALWAYS do a big party..I mean after all he is my world and it is the one day out of the whole year to celebrate him!!! My days of "themed birthday" parties are almost over as well and I want to keep it going for as long as he will let me!!I have been searching for stuff and ideas and happened to stumble across your page (and your party sounds like it will be lots of fun!). I was wondering if you would be willing to let me in on some of your ideas to help make this a wonderful party. I would even appreciate some good sites for printable or DIY ideas...I like the labels for the water idea, but was thinking about getting canteens for them and would like to label them!! :) Thanks so much if you can help at all I appreciate it!! You can email me at lindsaylanham81@hotmail.com if you have anything to share!
