Camping Trip - San Onofre, California

I can sleep again.  Camping pics have finally been uploaded!

It was the perfect spot.

The most dangerous camping tool became the toy of choice for beach play.

Of course.  Shovels.

We had 2 tents, an air mattress and plenty of blankets and pillows.

Lovely 65 degrees overnight.

We made lots of friends.

And, watched a gorgeous sunset.

Camp fires are a must.

Kids and I went to bed early and Blake stayed up late, as he always does when we camp.

I woke at 3am to find him asleep by the fire, on the beach, in a sleeping bag.  Another of his usual routines.

This time, however, 2 curious skunks were lurking 3 feet away.

Panic.  What to do?  Where's my camera?!

Luckily, they scurried away without incident.

Skunks on the beach.  Who knew?

Jack woke first and after putting Blake in the tent to cuddle with Laine, we walked down to the playground.

Returned an hour later for breakfast and some morning surfing before we broke down camp.

That's Blake and Carter out there!  Father and son surfing.  Love it.

Little ones and I stayed back to enjoy the last bit of time before heading home.  It was an awesome trip and I can't wait to return!

Awesome! I would love to be able to spend the night on the beach. I dont know of any places in New England that you can do such a cool thing!

Sounds like fun but not sure I could spend the night with that much sand.

I can't tell you how jealous I am right now! I love to camp, but here in 105 degree heat and ticks galore I will have to live vicariously through you. Go again soon! :)

Camping on a beach?? I did not know this existed. So cool. When we camp in Wisconsin it's deep in the woods... I love the idea of opening a tent and looking out to the ocean.
And I love Blake's camping traditions. So cool. Except for the skunks this year of course.
