Florida - Day 1 & 2 (kind of)

Feels like about day 12, but only because I haven't slept and been through quite a bit in the last day or 2.

We headed towards Los Angeles around 5pm on Friday (not flying out from LAX until midnight) but not wanting to fight L.A. traffic.

Had dinner, did some last minute shopping and then boarded the first leg to Atlanta.

Kids got treated to an (unusual for these days) cockpit tour, courtesy of the pilot on the right who we chatted with prior to boarding.

Super cool.

Kids were asleep before the plane left the ground for take off.  Blake, too.  I stayed awake, alternating between reading and keeping Jack and Lainey in comfy sleeping positions since they did not have their boosters with them.

Watched a gorgeous sunrise.

Took some time in Atlanta to regroup, recharge some batteries and Jack snuck in a nap, too.

After a grueling 1.5 hours at the gate, we finally headed for take off.

Long story......but about 1/2 our plane were Navy new recruits.  Their baggage (as it should) comes first.  So, civilian bags were taken off to balance out the weight of the plane.

2 of our bags were chosen.

It's 9:30pm here in Florida and we still haven't seen them.  One has been located and should be delivered.  The other is a mystery.

The great part of our landing in Pensacola is that we got to visit with Kelly and her new baby, Magnolia Beau!

We're all in love.

Finally after a fuss with baggage claim, we headed to the 30A.

The house is fabulous.  Absolutely darling and bigger & better than expected!

The cottage house.

The girls are reunited and more fabulous than ever.

And, the best part of the trip?

Learning my SIL, Britney, is expecting a baby in March!

We couldn't be happier for our expanding family.

Off to bed early (9:30pm).....early for vacation.......with a splintered Jackie.  He has a few deep wounds from his walk with the big boys around the neighborhood.  Might be visiting the doctor in the morning.

Never know what to expect on vacation!

Plan for tomorrow?  Beach.

Definitely the beach.

Ugh...your flight sounded grueling. That's awesome the kids got to see the cockpit. I didn't know they still did that. Your vacation house looks inviting. I bet that pool will get used some...! ;-) Congrats to your whole family on the newest soon to be addition!
