A Letter

Dear California,

This is very disappointing. As is this. We moved here to escape extreme temperatures. 113 degrees? We don't have air conditioning in our house. Most people don't who live this close to the water. It's usually not needed. USUALLY.

I understand that our family relocating here brings with it a certain risk for strange weather.

Examples:

2006 Christmas Blizzard in Denver - shortly after we moved there from Fort Worth

2009 Snow Fall Records in Kansas City - shortly after we moved there from Denver

While I can accept the fact that we throw off the earth's axis a bit as we move around the country (our kids are loud, we have a hard time blending in, etc), even this is ridiculous.

Please, for future episodes, can we lean in the other direction? I'm thinking snow on the beach. Yeah. Sign me up for that. Let's really shake things up out here.

Sincerely,

Casey in California (as long as this crap doesn't happen again)

I heard that today was the hottest day EVER on record in LA. I am sure it is the same where you are. I don't want to run it in, but we were in long sleeves and jeans at the playground today. :-) Miss you.

Ha! What is it with you all bringing crazy weather wherever you go?!?!

I'm not going to feel too bad for you, though. Because you live in Cali by the beach!! Dream life!

Miss you!

I felt your pain Casey. It was 116 up in Riverside where I work. I couldn't believe it. The thing that really got me going was my son's football practice wasn't cancelled. What the heck!

Just wait until you have enjoyed Christmas in shorts, a tank top and flip flops. You'll get used to it.

Yes, your 4 seasons are a thing of the past. What are you going to do with all that snow gear?

Oh no! That totally sucks! I bet you are missing fall more than ever. Hang in there!

I heard about the extreme heat on the Today show. However, they are describing our weather in the Twin Cities of MN as a perfect Fall Day.

I'm cracking up over Merry Mack's comment. Love that.

A friend of mine lives in LA and she's dying without A/C. Can't even imagine...

And speaking of all that snow gear.....I'll buy some of Jack's hand me downs from you!! We need it. You know...bc it snows so much in TX.

This morning I was watching the news and they were talking about the heat in California and I immediately thought of you. The Midwest is not having this heat wave attack. It might be another day of wave jumping for you.

Welcome to the Southwest! Except over here in the desert we have AC! Go cool off in the ocean!

Wish it would have been like that when we were there a few weeks ago. I guess a cold summer means a HOT fall in California this year?! Who would've thunk it?

Oh well...at least it's a good excuse to go to the beach everyday! Your house and backyard look amazing.
