Question Of The Weekend

So, we're in the middle of unpacking and I know that no one wants to read about how disorganized I am.......or how I spilled an entire container of oats all over the kitchen floor upon unpacking our non-perishables.......etc.

Instead, let's ask a question. It's been a while.

***If you could choose anywhere in the world to move and set roots.....with an odd little opportunity as we had......where would you go?

(Do not consider the details......expenses, custody issues, being close to family, etc. Simply think of where you'd love to live.)

Back soon with hopefully an unpacked house!

HOWEVER,

I'd love to live in Tuscany. It just seems so dreamy!

Happy Unpacking--if there is such a thing?

What a fun question! We are being asked something similar since we are up for a military move in a couple months. It's really hard!!

I have no clue where to begin. I've never been to Europe and as a kid we visited a lot of places, but I don't really remember them in the "I'd love to live here" part of my brain.

We did visit the San Francisco/Napa Valley area 3 years ago when looking at the residency program at the AFB out there and I thought it was absolutely gorgeous! So, I'm thinking along the coast in California would be lovely (since money is no object). But (don't laugh b/c I know everyone who reads this will) I hear that Ohio (and Kansas, hahaha!!!) are very family friendly, which is really important. BUT, places like England and Germany are on our list and I hear are lots of fun too! Geez!!!! I have no clue.

Can I just ask someone to pick a beautiful place where the people are laid back and friendly and it has 4 seasons? (b/c I am sooooooo over summer and the humidity we have all year) I really want four seasons. I've never had them in all my 32 years and am dying to experience what a real fall and spring feel like!

Was that too long?

Cortona Italy. It is, without a doubt, the most beautiful, quaint, homelike little village in all of Italy. I would LOVE to wake up every single day of my life to a view of the valley out of my sweet, little cottage window. PURE BLISS! Alyssa

Well, all my family is here and I like being near family but, I LOVED living in Knoxville, TN. It was a sad day when we had to move back here.

I love the North Carolina coast. The beaches there are amazing. I would live near the Outer Banks if I could.

A non-red state would be fantastic. A place where my kids aren't chastised because they don't attend church. A place where all people are accepted. A place where education is valued. A place where people value theater and travel in higher regard than football games and action films.

In other words, not Texas.

New York City? London? San Francisco? One of those.

I'm with Fitz.. No Cal. Tahoe would be my dream. A home looking over the lake and a big boat to take out.
Tahoe City is what I'm thinking.. or Incline Village

I like that saying I want to live where there are more educated/cultured/open-minded people is "stirring the pot." Ha.

I know you said anywhere in the world...so I would say, Atlantic Beach, Florida. It's outside of Jacksonville. Great restaurants, easy, breezy beach lifestyle, beautiful beach town, family close by, surfing, laying out, live music, football, fishing and seafood, great style. Yep, that's where I'd choose.

I've gotten some good travel ideas from the answers on this post. If people are willing to move to a place, it *must* be awesome.

I'm with Shannon on the non-red state idea. I love being a Texan, just not most of the closed minded people who live here...

If I could live anywhere, it would be a place with real antiquity, it would be France, Italy, etc....somewhere where I could surround myself with intellectuals who were constantly craving to learn more, question more (as more educated people do), and enjoy the simple things in life....not people who are worried about keeping up with everyone around them and not doing a very good job of it (North Dallas)!!!!!

I would go to Cali. Carmel or Napa. I always fantasize about being a teacher in a small yet popular Cali town. Austin is second on my list. I just wish I could make this dream work out.

I remain nomadic at heart, but my roots will always be in South Louisiana. I want to live on a boat and go island hopping in the Caribbean (again) and the South Pacific. I want to live in a VW Westy and do the West Coast and Central America. I want to rent flats all over Europe, and country houses in France, Italy, England, and Ireland. I want to live in Bali for several months in a lovely home like in Eat, Pray, Love. I want to live in a camper van and travel all over Australia, and then do it again in New Zealand. And finally, I'd love to live in a serious ski town in Colorado in a cozy mountain home with a fireplace, and preferably a hot tub... K?
