The One Where I Tell You What We Did On Mother's Day

Here we go.

Blake took the children to Lowe's for their workshop on Saturday. We've done several of these over the years, starting when Carter was only a year old. Each kiddo prepared his own flower box and I'm happy to report there were no injuries!

Blake's endless creativity conjured up these beauties for me, too. He had the kids help him create a collage. This one was to be the back drop for what they chose, but after he put it together, he liked it so much, another one was started.

And, it looks like this. All of my favorite things. A few inside jokes. A ton of effort and love.

On Sunday, we ventured out for our annual Mother's Day picnic. Ironwoods Park in Leawood, Kansas was our destination.

And, I'll tell you one thing, peeps. Kansas does parks right. In all the places we've lived, I've never seen a Parks and Recreation system quite so impressive. This park has an obstacle course built in for community events. Awesome.

Carter so desperately wanted to indulge. It's reserved for special times, however.

There's a beautiful lodge and nature center.

More from the obstacle course....

We found a spot near the water and started our picnic. Why the jackets? It was 60 degrees! You know what they say about Kansas weather! Well, Coco does.

Always the need for a hug after a potty break.

Me and my babies.

The little ones sported their rain boots. For some reason, Carter wasn't interested in getting a pair?

The baseball game was started.

Back up, Jack. Keep going.

Perfect. Blake and I were tempted to make a run for it. Kidding. Kinda.

Potty break. Nature walk.

Lainey's skinny little booty has the hardest time keeping pants up. So, we're constantly getting a show.

Jack taking it all in. The beautiful park, not Lainey's booty. "I don't yike booty booty booties!"

Flowers for mom.

Sugar for Meow Meow.

Brothers are so much fun.

Exploring. And, no one fell in.

Carter went out to the "island".

More baseball. Ready stances.

And, more booty. We're working on it. I promise.

The fam.

Time to go home. What a great day.

And, I left with wild flowers in my book.

What did you do to honor your mom or yourself?

Sounds like your description of a perfect day! Glad y'all had fun.
Me? I hung around places that had actual bathrooms. And toilet paper. And cocktails, of course.
:)

Sounds like such a nice break from it all for Mother's Day! Looked heavenly to be outside all day. Glad you enjoyed your day with your precious family! Me - I had a personal chef come to the house and prepare a fancy breakfast. It was yummo!

Aw, it looks like a great day! Those flower boxes are great. The picture of the little ones hugging is so sweet.

We did what I chose and all went to the library then Oak Park Mall to try to find a coming home/picture outfit for James, no such luck but we still had fun.

Fiona was a mega brat for most of the day, I hope it's just b/c of her teeth and not a new phase, but I still had plenty of moments that made me appreciate being a mother.

Love the pics! What a wonderful Mother's Day you had. I wish we could find a cool park like that around here. I might just have to steal your idea & plan a picnic next year for Mother's Day! Love the booty shots too! Baaaahahaha!!!

Alisha - yes, a braid! It is super long right now. TOO long. Need to cut it a bit. But, thanks!

a mothers' day picnic! I just told my husband I want to start a new tradition for mothers' day... I just love that idea. And, in Texas, it's actually warm enough! Love the pics...(except that a Meow Meow pic in nearly every post is exhausting me!) I can handle that better than the facebook page though! Lainey's bootie pics are hilarious, and much cuter than the fifth grade girls who I am constantly telling to pull their pants up when they are letting it all hang out in the classroom. I digress... thanks for sharing your mothers' day with us!

It looks like fun. Minus the outdoor bathroom. Missy Mack often sports crack like that too. That is what happens when they are slight. I am impressed with the Home Depot flower boxes and with Blake's creativity.
