Merry Mack posted the following recently and I thought it was hysterical:
So very true. You call yourself an explorer?!
Love that.
I don't do well with kid tv. The little punks watch Dora, Mickey, Chuggington, The Wonder Pets and Little Bear. That's about it. That I know of. Blake can sit there forever tolerating it. I'm done after about 2 minutes, unless I have a book in my hand to read while sitting with them.
What do your kids watch? What did you love when you were little?

My Name is Earl, Southpark, Family Guy. That sounds like a joke but it isn't. :)
My kid watches Animal Planet :)
Hudson watches: Handy Manny, Mickey, Special Agent OSO and Chuggington.
The Jetsons and The Flinstones top the list for me!!
Sydney is 9 and watches Animal Planet most of the time. Sometimes Sponge Bob just because she wasn't allowed to until this year.
Flintstones was the only cartoon I remember and it was on prime time when I was a kid...really! My little sister Cindy however, was a total Popeye freak so I had to tolerate it.
The girls watch Little Einsteins, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Special Agent OSO, Dora ... I am with you they all kind of drive me nuts - especially OSO and Chuggington.
I liked the Jetsons too!
Maci just started watching Dora and Diego, only because I've grown tired of watching Hotel for Dogs! She loves shows that have humans and animals! LOVES the Chipmunks too!
T watches all of those "tween" shows, Suite Life of Z and C, Phineas and Ferb, Hanna Montana, etc.
My boys I think watch it all! I have all the age groups covered in my house! I'll turn cartoons on in the living room while I get my computer/blog time in. That's the only way I can keep them quiet and from bothering me! Ha!
Oops...what I meant was:
Preston:
Loves games shows...especially Cash cab
He loves all those Zac & Codyish shows
He also loves Sports Center and any sporting event
Carter:
Loves anything that Preston is watching
Austin:
ANything sports related
What can I say... my boys love sports!
Don't have kids, so thankfully I don't have to watch those shows. I have noticed though, that when my niece is over and watches the tween shows, I find myself amazed at how arrogant the kid characters on the show are and how the parents (if they are present at all) are made out to be really clueless. Explains a lot about how some kids (not all, but many at my school) act today.
Oh my word... I can't believe I'm about to go back to days of Dora!!!!
Brooks used to sit for hours and watch PGA tournaments that we recorded on VHS tapes. Isn't that funny. We just knew he was gonna grown up to be a little Tiger. Thank the Lord he didn't.
i will have to say that we watched a lot of Franklin and Little Bear. They were just so sweet. Is Franklin still on?
No kiddos for me... but when I used to babysit, I was very much up on my Pokeman knowledge, and "my kiddos" loved Disney movies so we watched those. I just remember the classics from when I was a kid- Smurfs, Care Bears, Gummy Bears, Fraggle Rock, Jem... the good stuff. Kids shows now are a bit... weird.
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, and Phinneus and Pherb.
Movies: Polar Express, Cars, Stuart Little, Air Bud and Air Buddies, Alvin and the Chipmonks, Cat in the Hat.
We watch alot of TV...probably more than most...I'm OK with that...sometimes...
Thanks for spelling that darn show right, Courtney! T always get so mad at me for saying it wrong. Which I don't mind because it's a weird show and I don't care to even say it right :)
Fiona is still pretty little for TV so the only thing we turn on for her is Sesame Street. She just calls it Elmo. I will have to start watching kids shows to see what I think will be good shows for her, I am out of the loop.
iCarly and Big Time Rush are topping the list in our hosue these days. I don't mind Carly but the other one I can do without. Alyssa still likes Dora and Mason Sponge Bob as far as cartoons go.
well, she watches max and ruby (that one will drive you batty...), dora, dinosaur train (by far the favorite for my little one), and other pbs shows besides dinosaur train.
i used to watch belle and sebastian, danger mouse, and scooby doo. my mom said she could always get a nap while scooby doo was on. :)
we are all about dora and diego. when G was a baby i used to sing the 'c'mon vamonos' song to her because it was the only thing that would stop her from crying.
we love backyardigans too. wonderpets = spoon in eye
Those things drove me crazy too!!! I couldn't watch those shows with my kids. They love them, but seriously, by the time they find the thing they are looking for, they have wasted SO MUCH TIME looking for it!!!!! The Backyardigans was about the only show I could sit and watch with them. the songs were cute and I loved the characters voices. We cut off our cable recently so we don't want any of those anymore. Now we just watch movies from Netflix. Oh, and if your kids love trucks, you must get Mighty Machines! They come as a set of 2 dvds at Target and are 90 minutes each. I actually enjoy watching them too b/c you learn so much about how things are done/made. Kind of like those grownup shows about big machines, but they use voices for the trucks instead of one person talking about it.
Kamree loves Dora and Carson loves Sponge Bob. I hate kid shows too! However, I could tolerate Barney when they were younger!
I LOVED a local show in Cleveland called "Uncle Al."
He played (I promise I am NOT making this up!) the ACORDION and sang! Geez, I'm a geek (and very, very old!!)
Oh gosh. iCarly is cute, but in the words of Shannon, that girl is a slut. They should call it iSlutly. Kidding, but really.
Lainy still watches all the bebe shows. Loves Tom & Jerry (my fave when I was a kiddo), Max & Ruby, Barbie, Caillou, etc.
Soph likes anything Nickelodeon. They both LOVE Spongebob, who gives me a headache. But Patrick makes me laugh.
I got them hooked on Full House (Katie & I are still obsessed) but the commercials during that show are HORRIBLE! Like some chick passed out because she smoked too much pot. Yeah, 5 & 8 year olds get very confused and ask too many questions when they see that.
Haylee loves Wizards of Waverly Place and Zach and Cody, and Gracie watches Max & Ruby, Calliou, Dragon Tales and Clifford. Pretty much all of G's shows get on my nerves because of all the whiny voices. But I'll watch Wizards with H. It's cute. Kinda getting on my nerves with all the boyfriend/girlfriend stuff. Why can't they just leave that stuff out?!?!
Cason watches Dora, Diego and Max & Ruby. He also likes the new show Team Umizoomi.
Is it just me or do Dora and Diego shout at you the whole show?
I watched Gilligan's Island, The Bugaloos, and The Looney Tunes Gang on Saturday mornings. Seems like it was mostly The Roadrunner.
I loved Little House on the Prairie. My child most likely watches too much tv. My husband needs it on constantly as background noise, so he allows more than me. Usually it is 2 shows a day. Loves all the Nick jr. stuff. Sadly, she loves Yo Gabba Gabba at the moment. I don't get it. Maybe I should take some drugs. I hear when she turns 5 she'll abandoned it for iCarly and Hannah Montana or as she says, Hannah Fatana
All I can say is bring back Papa Smurf!
