Zoo

We feel at home at the zoo. Maybe it's the wild animals. Maybe it's the goose poop everywhere. Any way you look at it, the zoo makes us happy.

Swans welcome us with delightful honks.

We check out the polar bear exhibit under construction.

We see sea lions sun bathing.

A stop at the playground is essential.

Lainey helps Jack up the ladder. Cuteness.

Can you hear him? I still can. Jack always alerts us when the train drives by.

We see the "weird birds" playing basketball. Because they're weird.

We discuss what the animals eat.

About half our time is spent feeding or taking care of Meow Meow.

We play in the cubbies.

And, visit all of our sculpture friends.

When Jack sees a hill like this.......

He finds a sudden interest in the stroller. Smart kid. Lainey let Meow Meow ride with him. Buckled up, of course.

We watch our shadows move when we move. And, dance. And, jump. And, run.

The train comes by and all animals come to life after Jack squeals!

The koi pond is our favorite stop. Frozen over right now. Soon enough, it will be lush and green and crawling with snakes.

We have the occasional protest.......or discussion on which animal to visit next......because kids don't understand that the elephants could be 1/2 a mile from the otters. But, we keep moving.

The deer get fed. It takes 30 minutes for Lainey to finally release the three pebbles of food she holds onto after Jack chunks his handful into the cage immediately. But, they all get fed and return to their naps.

And, then we head home to ours!

T was just stressing how LONG Lainey's hair was and how much he liked it :)

Seriously Jack looks so big with his new cut, or not so new anymore but you know what I mean.

These 2 children are precious. I just wanna squeeze them!! So darn cute.

Um, was the zoo actually open or did y'all sneak in? Because I never saw another person in any of those videos or pics. Just wondering....

How did you not have a heart attack as Jackery was slurping that worm?! I kept expecting him to inhale the whole thing.
You're so sweet with them. "Do they eat pizza?" Jack's little laugh! And catfood? Oh Laine. Silly girl.
Oh, and "like music"! The geese honk like music.
Too much, Case. Too much.

i don't think i can stress enough how much our kids would get along. i think lainey is sophie's long lost twin and christopher and jack would totally hit it off. my lil' man screams like crazy when he sees a train or truck of any kind. i miss the zoo terribly. we haven't lived near one in years. i hope our next move has a big one!

Sara - the zoo was open. How funny. I didn't notice! This is why I love the zoo during "winter". No crowds.

Sass - didn't even flinch over the gummy worm. Not sure I noticed. Please leave this out should you be approached for a vote on my Mother of the Year nomination.

Love that it's finally zoo weather! If our sunshine stays long enough, thinking that's the perfect spot to head to this weekend.

Love it!

We tried to go to the zoo last week, but it was too cold once we arrived. The wind was whipping away and both girls had runny noses and red faces after I finished strapping Addie into the stroller. We ALMOST made it to the entrance when I decided it was just too cold. I guess the 38 degree shown on my rearview mirror should have given it away! I promise it was warmer when we departed the house for the zoo. Hopefully it won't be long until my LOUD children rouse the napping animals!

Love all your pictures. Looks like you guys had a GREAT day at the zoo!!
