Monday Scoop

And......I'm back. Closer to my normal self since Caroline is making some improvements. Sorry for my absence, but it's hard for me to write on the blog when our world is off balance.

So, let's get back to business with some Scoop.

Last week, my friend Jillian and I took the kids to the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens for a walk and picnic.

She spotted the first sign of Spring! So proud of you, Jillian.

Jack found a train. Shocker.

We had 5 kids total present and lost a few for a while. No worries.

Ainsley and Brynn took a ride in the Bumbleride. I love how kids are always so fascinated with other strollers.

We studied the Kansas fossil seabeds. Yep. There's more than sunflowers and wheat fields here.

Sweet Brooke.

An opossum (did I say that right?) showed up behind our house the other day.

The boys were fascinated.

And, he stuck to the stereotype and played dead for us! Awesome. Well.....for a while there, I was brainstorming how to proceed with an animal burial, but he got up soon enough. So, after that it was indeed, awesome.

Lainey is sporting the French braid nowadays. See? All those years of cheerleading and slumber parties paid off.

And, Internet, I blame you for the next few months of hell I will endure due to us growing out Lainey's bangs. You think it's tough growing yours? Try tolerating a toddler doing so and her refusing to pin her hair back.

On another note, why does spell check insist I capitalize "internet"? Does this have something to do with Al Gore?

Finally, here is a video of a monster train track I built with Jack. You may want to refrain from using the volume if you're sensitive to fingernails being scraped on a chalkboard.

That's about what my voice sounds like. WHEN WILL I DROP THE TEXAS TWANG?

Hope you have a good week, peeps. Keep praying for my sis!

So glad to hear about Caroline!

Why is it that the momemt we turn the camera on, they have nothing to say, but as soon as you quit recording, they do and say EVERYTHING you were trying to capture 5 seconds before on film?

Love that you're going to grow Lainey's bangs out. It will be so worth it in the end!

Yes, great to hear about Caroline.
Loving the french braid! Never learned how to do it since my hair was never long enough to have one!

Look at Jack, he looks like such a big boy!

Lainey just has too much hair, it should be chopped off. :)

LOVE tulips & daffodils popping up. Makes me smile more than any other time of year.

I LOVE your kids. I want to hang out with them. Come visit, and I'll babysit for you. Lainey melts me. So much in fact, that I asked Nate if we could name our next daughter Lainey.

So good to hear Caroline is doing better.

Love Lainey's french braid and Jack's spike:)

Funny, I'm in Lubbock now and there is an opossum outside on my Aunt's porch! He won't leave. Aren't they nocturnal? Why are they visiting during the day :)

we had two random deer in our backyard a couple weeks ago. if they keep teenagers from having sex back there, i'm cool with it.

and you, my dear, win the mom of the year award. longest train track indeed--i would never have the paitience for such a thing.

yeah, so i talked about you on my blog today... :)

Glad to hear that Caroline is improving. I had to take a little break too, it has just been so crazy and not having sunshine does not help matters.

Cool opossum, love the nature walk pics and Lainey's hair. Why when they have such cute barretts out there do they not want to use them? Alyssa has never had bangs but will rarely wear a barrette.

Have a great week!

So happy to hear Caroline is improving. We will continue to pray. You hang in there. Jack suddenly looks like a big boy (it must be the hair)!!! Can you believe they are almost 4?

When you said you were going to incorporate more pictures of yourself did you mean monthly, annually, when exactly? Because to be honest....we're not seeing that many pics of you. Miss you. Praying for Caroline.

Shut up, Kelly! I'm trying. Have made it almost every week. I'll put a special one in there for you by Friday. Promise.

Jann, I was thinking the same thing. 4!!!!!!

Holy cuteness...I'm loving Jack's hair in that train picture. Does he request this or do you just do it??? He's adorable. Trains and all.

I never learned how to do the french braid thing either. We were much too busy dealing with Ouiji boards and playing Light as a Feather-Stiff as a Board at our slumber parties. :) Lainey's precious!

Glad y'all got out and about this week. Lots of prayers for you, Caroline and the family! Glad to hear the positive update.

Aww, love that video! Love Jack's hair!

Hagen was listening to it while I watched it and he asked for a cup too...now I have to get my lazy butt off the couch and get him a cup.
