Book Club Inaugural Discussion

It's just a check in! Don't panic.

Are you reading? What are your initial thoughts?

I'm still pondering a worthy form of discussion a la blogland (and am open to suggestions). For now, leave comments on where you are and what you're thinking. But, please don't give anything away to those who aren't far along or haven't started.

My take:

I enjoyed Italy......but struggled through India. Indonesia is bringing me back.

I am about to start, but trying to finish Pat Conroy's latest- Beach Music. As soon as I am finished with that one, I'll start.

What if we all did an open night discussion. I used to work at a TV station and we did an on air book club. We could all log in to the same IM server and chat that way? Maybe?

I'm sure we could research On-line book clubs and see what they have to say.

I've started. I love it. I work a lot (and drink a lot) which means I fall asleep a lot...but what I've stayed awake for and remembered...it's good. Maybe tonight I will stay sober and get more read. But, um, I'm still in New York. I also wish that she would put the juicy reasons she wanted a divorace. I want the deet's.

Was that an intentional "geese"?

If so, can I borrow that? Awesomeness.

I wish I could get into books but I am not a book person at all. I have to laugh when people blog about re-reading a book for fun. I just don't get it. Maybe there is something wrong with me. But if you blog about a great book I may pick up to read on my next flight. That is the one time I can read.

I read this a long time ago; Loved the idea of the book and I think I'll love the movie, but I was so booooooored with this book. It was the very first book ever (and I'm a big reader!) that I almost didn't finish...

Hope you guys like it better than I did.

i have to admit, i'm really struggling getting into this book. not sure why b/c i thought i was going to love it. maybe b/c i know the movie is coming out this summer and i'm dying to see what she saw through it, since i've never been to anywhere on that side of the world. it's been a VERY slow reader for me. sorry gals! i'm hoping if i could just sit for an hour and really get into it i'd like it more, but it has to make me want to stay up for hours at night and it's not doing that. but i'm not going to miss the movie!!! oh and i want the dish on the divorce too! only b/c she said she won't tell.

I'm in India right now, and with packing, my reading has stalled. I am liking it a lot so far and can very much relate to her quest for real happiness and desperation to find it. I love memoirs.
