La Jolla Vacation - Day 3

La Jolla Cove was our first destination of the day. Loved it last year. More this year.

Hello, napping seal. Promise he's not dead.

The cove is fabulous for seeing the seals, searching for crabs and seeing far into the ocean......all the way across to our favorite beach, La Jolla Shores.

My sis. So lucky we have each other.

Similar to a pic I took last year at this stop.

Sweet Caroline.

We stood for a long time checking out the seals.....both sunbathing.....and in the water. I can't express enough how cool it is for kids to see animals and sea life in their natural element. They love it. I love seeing them enjoy it.

Drove a bit further down the street to a snorkeling spot we discovered last year.

I stayed upstairs and read while the rest of the fam headed down to the water. Not much snorkeling going on......water is still too cold. But, it's warming up!

Hello, darling seals.

Love this......

The famous La Jolla Cove.

On our way back to the house, we stopped at the super famous In-N-Out Burger. All sorts of yumminess. Interested, DFW-ites? Garland is getting one soon! They're branching out from the west coast.

Old school......great kids working there......good prices......fab food.

After lunch, we headed to the beach with Cam (my cousin) and Donna (my aunt). Lainey is crossing here, holding Cam's hand. She doesn't like the male species all that often.....but certainly took to Cam.

Cam is my cousin. And, you all know Carter. Love these two.

Boogie boarding!

Donna, Caroline and I relaxed further from the coast and chatted. I'm pretty sure we could talk for days if time (and children) allowed.

Sand castle.

I love late evenings on the beach.

Not sure what our plans are tomorrow......we'll see where the day takes us. I purposely made very few plans for this trip.

I know. It surprised me, too.

So much fun!!! Love seeing all these pictures.

That pic of you and Caroline is awesome!

You need to take some video of Mr. Athletic (Carter) doing his boogie boarding and surfing.

Looks like you guys are having a blast! It is so great that you and Caroline are so close and that your kids love hanging out with her too!

I agree with Sara, would love to see some video of Carter getting his surf on.

I remember seeing this cove before and thinking how cool. It just might have been on your blog last year. I know I'd love it there.

I adore Lainey's swimsuit. So glad you could vacation with your whole family. That's fun. Funny, most locals find the seals a bit annoying. Did you know that they took over the childrens pool? Yup, and environmentalists won't let anyone change that. Of course, it's been so many years now that I'm not sure anyone cares anymore. La Jolla Shores has always been our favorite family beach. We go to Ocean Beach now because they have an off leash dog beach. It's very family friendly there too. I would not recommend Meow Meow making an appearance there. tehe!

ps. Do you have a pool where you are staying? I know of a great one for the kids. It's about a 30 minute drive down the 52 in Santee. It's at the YMCA. It's $3 or 4 bucks each to get in. They have a great kiddy pool with a climbing structure and the bigger pool has a water slide. See, something for all your kids. Think about it. It's also much hotter inland.

I find we have more fun when I don't plan too much. These pictures are just fabulous. You got your shadow picture! I love California.

Oh my goodness. Those of Caroline and you, and her with the kids are just beautiful. Sisters are the best. Yall look so glam with your big shades and palm trees behind you.
LC in the middle of the sand castle cracked me up. And the one of Jack alone walking with La Jolla in the background- gorg.
Tony and I kayaked in La Jolla a couple of summers ago- did I ever tell you about that? The Tiger Sharks? Famous there, but I had no clue and was yelling at all the snorkelers (there to see the harmless sharks) that there were sharks in the water. And offering them a ride back to shore in our kayak. I'm such a dumbass. So...don't do that.

Totally agree....the beach in the evening is the BEST! We took Carrie and the crew to our beach last night, but actually got rained out--hope you had better luck down south! Oh--your plans tomorrow better include your visit for dinner, sista! Can't wait to see you and hopefully Caroline can make it up, too!

These are all great pictures. I am currently in Colorado, and am missing the beach right now. I hear it is super hot in So Cal right now. I love In N Out...my very favorite hamburger joint. I also noticed a shadow shot. I remember this being a summer photo goal on a recent blog. Keep up the fun posts...they are really fun to read.

Videos coming. Promise.

Pam, thanks! The kids are in love with the ocean. Not sure if they'd opt for the pool, but I appreciate your suggestion.

Nice, Sass.

Heather, I agree! Could be a rumor.
