Question Of The Week

We woke to huge snowflakes falling and a few inches of snow already on the ground. Hard to believe we're anywhere near summer at this point!

Had a great day skiing and we're now preparing for Kansas. The packing team is here and has started on the kitchen. Blake has the little ones out for a day of fun while I am at the house. There is a lot to organize.....packing clothes for our hotel stay....getting ready for First Communion.....keeping cleaning supplies in the house so that we can leave it in good shape for the buyers......maintaining Carter in school with 2 major projects due this week.....continuing to prepare utilities and such for our new home.....all the while living life here while we have it!

So, with that in mind, I'm still all for relocation. We had a great experience coming here to Colorado and now can't wait to get to Kansas. Yes, there are a lot of headaches and it's an emotional process on many levels, but to me, it is all worth it. Life is so short....I want to experience as many parts of the country as possible! And, I would be totally willing to go overseas, but it's not a possibility with Blake's career.

We have been fortunate enough over the past few years to make it back to Texas often and have had lots of visits here from family and friends. Kansas brings us even closer to the important people in our lives....while keeping us in a different part of the country....one with seasons and an identity all of its own, which we love.

***What about you? Would you relocate? Have you? What are your thoughts?

Ryan and I were just talking about this topic the other day. We would LOVE to relocate but can't ever do it. I would never take the boys away from their dad, and Ryan would never move away from T. We have decided that when the kids are grown, we're moving to Mexico and opening a bar on a beach somewhere. I'll wear a bathing suit and flip flops every day. Sounds fun, huh! Okay...back to reality...=)

I would love to relocate. Unfortunately with the way the housing market the way it is in FL we would be upside down by $100,000 if we tried to sell our house now. Gotta love FL!! A few years ago we talked about moving to Australia for Dave's work. Neither one of us had been there yet but we were all for it. I especially liked the idea because I would not have a work visa and therefore could not work. So I would have been forced to spend my days exploring Australia. But in the end the company decided not to send someone there. Maybe one day...

As a kid, we moved about every 2 years until we moved to MN. Then we stayed there for 5 years and then moved to TX. Been here ever since!
Pretty much all of our family is here, so that makes it difficult to leave. Bryan would move in a heartbeat, but I'm just not ready!
Maybe one day . . .

I'll be in Texas for life. My entire family lives in the Metroplex so this is where I'll stay.

We moved from Houston to Seattle and then Seattle to San Diego for Darin's job. I am always open for relocation and a new adventure. Having said that, it would be pretty difficult to find a place that could compare to San Diego.

No, I would not relocate now that I have a child. With Phillip's job we could move all over the world if we wanted to, but I have no desire to do so. I love to visit different places, but Texas will always be home.

It's funny you posted this question when you did because Phillip just recently asked me if I would be willing to move to Switzerland.

I would live anywhere, anytime. i have moved many times in my life...TN, CA, IN, LA, and TX. Mark and I would love to live in CO or AZ...we are always open to the idea of moving. If he stays with his company chances are we will have to move to NJ sometime. I don't even mind that one except for the cost of living....very expensive up there.

I think the idea of relocating sounds fun and exciting but I'm too much of a mama's girl to move. I love being close to family and being able to have long, deep friendships that live nearby. I just stick to lots of vacations :)

Hell, yes! I'm liking the comfort factor of being back in Kansas since it's a much more laid back life and closer to family BUT I think when you limit yourself geographically, you limit yourself to opportunities that might come your way. I never imagine staying in one place for more than 5 or 6 years. We're already planning on re-evaluating in 4 years (when Payton graduates high school) to see if we want to change locations.

In the last six years I've moved three times, growing up we relocated A LOT - 10 moves in like 15 years and I lived in some great places, had some great experiences, but have no desire to move. I knew when we left Texas that where we ended up, we'd stay and I'd stay in this old house of ours forever if we weren't already busting at the seams! We talk often about moving to Florida, but now that my brother has relocated to Raleigh, I see us staying put here, just wishing my parents would follow suit!

I would love to move - somewhere further east. I am totally open to going overseas too. With my job that wouldn't happen but maybe with my husband's. I always ask him what's open in other places ... hopefully someday!

Love Dallas....grew up here, all of our families are here, etc., but loved when we lived in Boca Raton for a year and a half.....glad we got out of there before the housing bust! I would move in a heartbeat...I would LOVE to live overseas, too. I know we will retire in Hawaii....Dave has lived there before, his parents have lived there, and we LOVE it there!

I'm from a military family so I've made the rounds. After college I moved 3 times ending here in Charlotte.
I always love exploring new areas :) There's always something new to see and learn!

I moved around a lot as a kid. Hated it. I was transferred to Memphis when I was 25 for 4 years and it was a good experience as I was single.

I have been pretty stationary most of my life. I have never had to relocate as an adult, or really sicne I was a young kid. I am not sure how I would handle it. Frank and I talk about places we would like to live, but it just doesn't look like anything will happen for a very long time if it does at all. Frank has been at his job for 12 years and doesn't see himself leaving for a long time. He is already talking about how he would like to become the CIO eventually.

I live on a boat so that I can move around a lot. I love exploring new places, and since a boat is how I get there, I can be sure those places will be beautiful seaports or islands. I find it very exciting, freeing, and relaxing. The only drawback is not being close to my family. I only see them a couple of times per year. I make those visits as long and as full of quality time as possible.
