Blake Carter will celebrate his last single digit birthday on Tuesday. Our oldest child is growing up. Too fast in my opinion, but I like the direction he's headed.
He's our most outgoing child. He has the trademark Starnes charm that oozes out of every pore of his being, willing you to like him. It's pretty much impossible not to. He's considerate and thoughtful and nurturing.....by far the compliment I hear most often about him.....and nothing could make me prouder as a parent.
We celebrated with friends on Saturday at a nearby park in town. This party was designed start to finish by Carter and I must say that it was our most successful to date!
We'll get to more of the party soon.......first, here are our obligatory at home pictures with siblings. I absolutely love this one. Can't see it without smiling, knowing both boys are cracking up.
All 3......in Kansas City Chiefs gear......to cheer on big brother at his mock football game.
At the party......Blake played both referee and quarterback at times. The boys were split into teams, adorned with flags......and ran like crazy for an hour and a half.
Lainey stayed near Daddy when possible.
And, the she joined Jack and other kids on the playground at times.
Our little chef worked on the cake for a bit...yes, PW's Best Chocolate Sheet Cake Ever......delish. Jack must have rearranged the candles 5 times. Carter was a great sport about it.
I love that our boys are still interested in decorating wrapping paper.
And, making hand-made birthday cards. See, they're not that old.
And, then Lainey dug in.
Back to the game.
Another version of the first pic......this one without the silly faces.
Guess who had as much fun as the little boys?
It was a great party. Lots of generous gifts and some gift cards to spend. Life is good for this 9 year old boy. And, I'm proud to be part of it. Happy Birthday to our first baby.....the one who started it all!
