Harbor Days

We spent 2 days at this fun festival. The harbor is about 10 minutes from our house.....perfect to grab a bite to eat and even more fun when pirates are lurking.

The kids couldn't get enough of the Navy vehicles on the beach.

Love this picture.......not because Blake looks like a lunatic (unemployment has taken its toll), but because it looks like the kitty on Lainey's shirt is peaking out.

Hover craft.......awesome.

Jack kept asking, "Mom, can we go back to see the tractor boats?"

So much to see.

We stopped for dinner and I got this lovely look from Laine.

Fish and chips!

These two are just so funny together.

Thumbs up is Lainey's signature move.

Time to go.....glad the baby got a ride.

Back the next day for more fun. We must have walked 3 miles on this day. Parked far away and instead of taking the shuttle, we toured the boats and life on the water.

Dreamed of owning a boat like this one day. We will name her California Voo Doo. If you know where that came from, I'll love you even more.

Sadly, we can't even afford this right now. All in good time.

We watched gorgeous bright orange fish swimming about right by the shore here under these ramps. Awesome to see such in person, rather than behind the glass at an aquarium.

Isn't the harbor picture perfect? Really a cute place.

Second round. Delish.

Blake and I want this car.

Because of this sign.

Lots to see and do. The harbor is filled with kooky pirates and California's finest variety of fruits and nuts (the people, not the food).

"Coastie" is a moving, talking and joke telling mascot for the Coast Guard. There was a 70ish year old precious man speaking for him. Jack couldn't make sense of it.

Love the look of disgust on his face. He is the most literal child I've ever known. He can't hide anything and is incapable of lying (thus far). It's all right there for the world to see.

Look, Coco! I can finally give up the Ergo. Now, I just need the dog to go in it.

This guy stopped and asked the children if they wanted to see his booty. Blake screamed, "Run, kids run!!!!!!!" Awkward. I think he meant his treasures.

One of the coolest things we saw.....the "Nail and Sail". Contestants assemble these boats on the beach and then attempt to cruise through the water. Kind of like a boxcar derby.

You can see them all lined up getting ready to race here.

Kiddos waited patiently and no one fell in! Luckily, there was a seal entertaining them nearby.

Umh.....fail. Can barely see the boat. They kept going, though! So cute.

Lots of inflatables. Lainey Bug flew down this one.

Jackaroo, too.

Carter had to go on the Titanic.....one of his favorite movies.

Jack did it, too! That's a big slide for such a little boy.

Snow cones to refresh.

Notice the rat (wearing a hat) in the pirate's hands on the right.

I really regret not picking up one of these treasures for Batman. Seriously cool.

Lovely boats all around.

And, on our way out, we spied this brilliance. Pirate family? Don't mind if I do! Already planning next year. Blake is totally supportive, I assure you.

Have I mentioned how much we love it here? Such a fantastic place to live.

Off to the beach after naptime. Hope you've had a good weekend!

I was in your neighborhood today. Went to La Jolla via Oceanside PCH through Carlsbad, Del Mar, etc. Loved the drive and beautiful day.

What a blast! Moving from the Midwest to California must feel like one gigantic vacation! Everything would be new, exciting and so different!

My boys will be in your neck of the woods soon. They leave October 23. I think they are heading to the safari park first!

Can I please come live with you? Please? For a week?

Mad Hatter is so appropriate. I know this doesn't have anything to do with your blog, but you know what I mean. Can you please beat the crap out of Auburn for me? Please?

I hate rats, but I might reconsider if they all wear hats.

Lainey's outfit is the cutest thing I have ever seen. Ever!

And Lainey's Halloween outfit is fab!!! Love it! She is seriously the best dressed little lady I have ever seen... you do good work in the fashion department lady!
And please, please, please turn into a Pirate family. I cannot wait to see that!!!

Looks like fun! Tell Jack my brother drives those tractor boats - he is a hovercraft navigator in VA in the Navy! They are so cool!

I am a bit weirded out by the Titanic sinking ship bounce house...
The rat is totally gross!
But the rest of the weekend looks awesome. The kids are so adorable. I LOVE Jack's face in all of the pictures. Does he still love me??? Or has he forgotten all about me?
The other day I told the girls that we were going somewhere fun, but it was a surprise. Brynn said, "To California to see Jack-n-Lainey?!?!" I wish!

Funny I didn't even notice the cat on her shirt. my starts LC is a mini-me (you)! crazy ness i tell you. The funny thing is, I have been seeing this VW van cruzing around town here with all kinds of old bumper stickers and it of course makes me think of you, every single time i see it. The problem is, we are driving. Twice I have been near it at a red light but it didn't last long enough for me to snap a photo.

California Voo Doo - awesome. WSP!! :)

Trey told me this weekend that he and Hudson are buying a VW van and touring the nation to visit all the major ballparks as soon as he's old enough. I don't doubt it at all.

Lainey and Jack just get cuter and cuter. And Carter looks like the typical California boy now. Love them.

Looks like a fun festival!!
