Just A Few Things Today

1. Caroline is en route to the airport. We're just about to lose our minds in anticipation for her visit. This isn't just any visit, peeps. This is Thanksgiving.......our feast tomorrow with Uncle Bob, Donna and kids.....cooking up a storm with my sister......Christmas decorating........Elf on the Shelf.......shopping......Disneyland......sister time making fun of my weird children.

One very important note should not be missed, peeps. Caroline beat the odds of medical science and was taken off dialysis. TAKEN OFF DIALYSIS. It's almost unheard of. And, she did it. No more plugging in at night. No more lugging her dialysis machine through the airport. No more 30 minute prep and 30 minute removal with possible cramps. Her kidneys have made a comeback and I could not be happier for her. Thanks to all of you for the prayers and kind thoughts over these last 14 months!

2. If you are not reading Badder Homes and Gardens, drop what you're doing now and take a look. Recommended by Caroline. So very, very fun. And, so very, very wrong. Start here. That should give you a taste of what they write about.

3. Carter just threw a tantrum that can only be described as monumental this morning because his first pair of skinny jeans have a tear in them. And, he couldn't find his new pair.

Mom - "Carter, you have 4 other pairs of jeans. Put one of them on."
Carter - "Mommmmmmmmmmm! They're so big on me. I look like an idiot in them."
Mom - "Carter, they're a normal fit. Are you saying your father looks like an idiot?" (gesturing towards Blake who is standing next to me looking very much like an idiot, but not because of his jeans.)
Carter - "Yes. Every day. My life is over."
Mom - "Well, before you die, could you brainstorm some ideas for a creative place card system for Thanksgiving dinner? I have the centerpiece, but not the place cards planned."

You see, people, I'm not equipped for these pre-teen years. I immediately resort to sarcasm, which makes him laugh through his teenage-girl type tantrum, but we don't actually accomplish anything. I honestly don't know what else to do. Help.

4. LSU is playing Ole Miss today. I think yall know by now that I've got some gypsy blood in me, but please let it be known that my heart will always belong in southern Louisiana. Sorry, Coco. Not Texas. I fell in love with LSU and all things creole shortly after being accepted to the University of Texas in Austin. Quickly applied, got accepted, and headed down to Cajun country.

If you love Louisiana, watch this video.

If you don't, watch it.

You got into UT? Fancy. I got waitlisted at SWT and that's how I ended up at LSU! Anyway, for the place card holders...have you seen when people use those miniture pears or normal sized pears? You cut a slit in them or something. I had a friend do it and it looked adorbs. Geaux Tigers!

I've seen the pears, Kel, but they're a little too high brow for us. Need something hokey to match our fruit and veggie turkey.

I know just what a pain home dialysis is. And lugging the machine through the airport. Frustrating. Hubs won't be getting a miracle healing. We are waiting for a transplant. Therefore, I am even happier for your sister for not having to wait. Way to go Caroline!

First of all, that's awesome news about your sis!! Glad she is doing so well!

Secondly, I just got goose bumps and almost teared up watching that little video. My heart belongs in South LA too and I miss everything about it! Trying to convince the hubby to move there, but he thinks I'm crazy! He just doesn't understand, but then again I guess if you haven't lived there you can't understand it. NO place like it on Earth..so proud to call La home.

We watched that game today! Good game!!! I love football, but only when the scores stay close so it's exciting! We just turned on the tv when Nate got home, and that's the game that was on!

Haha, the skinny jeans... I saw that they make leggings now out of jeans. Gross (in my opinion).

We're having a Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night too. ENJOY my friend!

First: Awesome news about Caroline - awesome!

Second: The.Best.Game.Ever. My throat is hurting from yelling so loudly. Nothing like 95,000 fans yelling "Geaux Tigers...Geaux Tigers...Geaux Tigers - LSU!" to get the blood pumping. Also, Billy Cannon was there as well as Tommy Casanova, YA Tilley and two others. First time in history they were all together at one time. Except for the asshat who reached for a bird as it flew past and fell over the railing into the lower section it was the greatest day EVAH!

Okay...so I think skinny jeans need to go away and I fo sho don't enjoy seeing them on boys. Maybe it's because I'm jealous that my thighs are the size of Africa and it would not be in my best interest to try to squeeze something that big into something smaller than my pinky finger. There. I said it. I was honest.

And I thought you misspelled Better Homes and Gardens. I was not prepared for that funny azz blog post! Hi-larious!

I think Coco (your Coco not my alter-ego which I never thought of before until now. She probably thinks I stole her name when it's totally a long freaky story on how I came up with that name and now my ADD is kicking in so back to topic at hand..) needs to pick a new team. Texas sucks. And they probably always will. Think she'll still be my friend?

Yeah Caroline! I am so happy to hear that she is doing well and there for a visit. Enjoy your visit. I don't know what to tell you about pre-teen tantrums. Love and Logic? I know it works on kids but I am not sure how long it lasts. Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi Casey!

I'm one of the housewives from The RHOK. Had to come over and check you out after the comment you left Friday. =)

Love your blog and your writing.

I'm having the same preteen drama at my house. I need to resort to the sarcasim and not anger. I loved the way you dealt with the situation.
