Question Of The Week

Well, folks, we have 2 out of 3 children secured in their Santa request.

Jack wants a big boy bike.

Lainey wants a princess trike with a basket on the front to hold her kitties.

Carter is always our biggest challenge. We don't spend ridiculous money on Christmas gifts and this is often difficult to explain to Carter without compromising the Santa equation. So, we wait nervously to hear his final suggestion and then start the negotiations.

So, with that in mind......two questions today:

1. How does Santa work in your house?

2. What do you want him to bring you this year?

My answers:

1. Santa delivers one "big" gift to each child and fills their stockings. All other gifts are given by us, friends and family.

2. Photoshop. I'm pretty sure I could rule the world (the tiny one in my head) if given this key instrument for blogging.

1. Same as you - one big gift from Santa and stockings. Rest are from family.

2. This is tough ... so many things ... probably a new camera DSLR - Nikon or Cannon

We're all too big now for Santa... but when I was little, I stopped believeing really young, thanks to a mean boy in my 2nd grade class. So since my world was crushed, I made sure my sister believed until she was pretty much in 6th grade. Maybe even 7th. Santa brought almost all our presents when I was little though.
I'm asking Santa to pay off all my student loan debt and to bring me Aaron Rodgers or Robert Pattinson (or both, I'd be fine with that) tied up in a bow, with a giant rock to offer me for my left ring finger :)

1. A few years ago a friend of mine told me they do 3 gifts from Santa to represent the 3 gifts that Jesus received. The rest is in the stocking or from family.

2. Mine came early in the form of 3 new bathrooms and a kitchen. We'll finish the rest of the house and that should take care of me for a few birthdays, Christmas and anniversaries!

We do the same thing. Santa brings one gift, that we pretty much "give" them the idea so that it is in our price range. They think he only brings one thing b/c that's what we've always told them he does. I used to feel guilty when I would see how much everyone else gave their kids, but now I just laugh, point and say "Sucka!!!!"

I want a gift card to Joann's (the only place to buy fabric within 150 miles of where I live) and then go up to the one in Montgomery (b/c it's 3x the size of ours) and go shopping. And a gift card to Forever 21 b/c they just opened two months ago and I can get so much for so little. I'm pretty easy to please. Give me money so I can shop without trying to explain to my husband, "but I really neeeeeeeded it!!!"

It'd be fabulous if someone would pay off all of our loans from Brandon's college/med school, but I don't see that happening. That way we can do things without the guilt too!

1. We always had unwrapped gifts under the tree from Santa and then the wrapped ones were from family. We always seemed to have one big gift that outshined the others.
2. It's harder and harder for me to think of things I want for Christmas as I get older. I just enjoy being with my family. That's the best gift of all.

Santa also goes by the name Dave. He reads my blog and likes to shop at Bloomingdales and Juicy Couture. I am kind of worried at what might happen to Santa after we have kids.

santa leaves a nice array of unwrapped gifts in front of the tree. stockings are opened first (they hang on the doorknob at night) and family gives the rest.

i want a new phone, a new LV bag (i can milk a good handbag for an entire year with no swapping out!), and some shoes. ROCK. ON.

it's weird in our house because santa is kind of a non issue. G is 3. we don't really talk about santa and neither does she. i actually have no idea how santa works in our house. i'm sure that scores me negative points on the parenting meter.

all i want for christmas is an income. so boring, but, so true.

Santa always leaves his presents unwrapped around the tree and fills the stockings.

I want a new wallet. Or a new Northface vest. Or a new pair of Uggs. Trey and I put a $100 cap on our own gifts this year. So I guess that rules out my wallet. Damn it.

we do 3 gifts from SC like Jesus got and stockings which is usually filled from the $spot at Target or little things. Then a gift or 2 from parents and from the siblings. I want lots....a new camera, a maid, a vacation-but my hopes are not high this year! HA

Casey, we only have 2 boys left in the house that believe in Santa...T and Carter. It is so depressing.

1. We do the same.
2. I want world peace. No, really. If that's not available, I would
love money to shop with in New York City!

As far as photoshop, try out picnik. It's online, and it REALLY does a lot of the same stuff. I have Photoshop Elements and love it too.

Three unwrapped gifts from Santa.
I would love someone to come organize my house and then a maid to come clean the house. Not going to happen though.

We haven't really decided how Santa will work in this house. Cason is 3 and this is the first year that sort of understands.

Growing up, everything was wrapped that could be wrapped and left under the tree from Santa. It never dawned on me that my parents didn't get me anything. We were also given a catalog beforehand and told that Santa only spent $75 per kid so we had to pick out gifts that didn't total more than $75. We mastered the art of picking out exactly $75 worth of toys without a penny to spare.

1. Santa leaves the big presents unwrapped and fills the stockings. He is super new to us so it's lots of fun.
2. The last 2 out of 3 years he brought me a baby so I'm kind of weird about that fact that I'm not pregnant. If I could pick anything in the world I would get my hair done and nails done for a year and a babysitter to watch my kids while I do it.

Allyson's comment cracked me up.

I just want to know when my next vacation is coming and where...

Santa usually brings one bigger gift and the stockings then the rest is from family. Although, Keith thinks the Santa gifts should be wrapped and I think they should be unwrapped.

I would love Santa to bring me a new wardrobe, but I know that isn't in the budget this year.

1. Exactly same as you. I like most presents to be from mom and dad, not Santa.

2. A bracelet I have been eyeing!

This was a great question. I love reading the answers. Our kids get a few from us and a few from Santa. The ones from us are wrapped under the tree before X-mas Eve and Santa wraps in different paper. Santa came to my parents house until we flew the coup. Ben would rather all the gift be from us so he gets the credit, ha ha!

Ben scored us a DSLR on Black Friday so my wish has been fulfilled. I will be asking for Photo Shop for my B-day ;). I do agree Picnik is great too.

No babies who believe in Santa at our house. :(

1.) We'll still play like they do believe though....all fun things are from Santa and are just set out, unwrapped. Clothes are from Mom and Dad.

2.) We just bought a 55" TV so that's our gift to each other this year. Our first flat screen, first big screen and first HD TV. This is big!

(1) I'll let you know as Christmas gets closer. I like your idea though.

(2) I would love an ipad but do I need one? No. It's just extra fun. I would love some more photography lessons. Are you gonna buy me someting?

oh please Santa.... bring Casey photoshop!! I beg you!! Then will you please give us day by day tutorials. I received it last year for Christmas and still haven't figured out how to do a dang thing on it! So frustrating!

And... the I will be receiving the gift of the pink slug bug for many more years to come. It's okay though! I STILL LOVE IT!
