David Sedaris

Am I the only one obsessed? I have not loved an author like this in over a decade. Hilarious. Witty. So funny, but not in any sort of deliberate fashion. Crass and crude, but not enough to stop me from reading.

Loved it:

Loved it even more:

I'm going to try to pry myself away from him for a bit and start The Shack, but Barrel Fever will be calling my name next. Saving Holidays on Ice for later in the year.

Any other authors I should be reading similar to Sedaris? Who are your favorites?

Let me know how you like The Shack. I have it but haven't found the time to read it. I've heard great things...

You know my obsession with him. Glad you wrote about it, a lot of peeps don't really know who he is.

He's from Raleigh! Love his books. His sister Amy is hysterical too!

Casey...go pick up ANY book by Anita Sherve. I fell in love her books via the Oprah bookclub several year's ago. Love her! I finished The Shack several weeks ago, and it was awesome!

I've never heard of him. I will have to check him out. I haven't read a book in about 6 months so I cannot suggest anything good right now.

He's the only author where I have read all of his books. He also tours (especially to college towns) and will read passages. Also on NPR and writes for the New Yorker I believe. Love him. And Amy.

Few books can bring me to tears, but I was crying at the end of Me Talk Pretty One Day as he described his fantasies (Scientist Man, etc). And, then he went into his father saving fruit and such and eventually eating the brim of his hat. Classic.

Shannon and Coco both passionately recommended him....and they're both so different.....but both close friends of mine.....it only made sense to listen. And, you guys were right!
