Do you......
*secretly wish your 2 year old child who has never shown a moment's interest in TV might actually sit for a bit so that you can take a break?
*close the curtains earlier than usual on some days to give the illusion it's later than it is so that bed time can arrive a bit earlier?
*skip lines in books occasionally when reading to kids who can't read in order to hurry it up?
*see two children quietly playing with trains and babies and physically tip toe out of the room to find a tiny shred of peace in the day?
Please say you do at least one of these things! I'm still on duty and doing my best....but it's one of those days.
I'd give anything for a nanny and a nap right now.

Yes I do skip lines in books...all the time! He picks out novels...it's the only way I can get his reading done in the time slot I have! :)
My parents once changed my brothes clock in his room to about 1 hour earlier (he was old enough to read a clock). He didn't understand why he had to go to bed and the sun was shining. My dad said, "Matt, I can't ehlp it...the clock says it's time for bed. I don't know what you want me to do about it!" Matt fell for it but they said it was one of the funniest times of child raising of theirs!
Oh and by the way, glad to see you are normal! AND, I don't really experience the rest of it because I work...therefore I get a break. Nice and not so nice at the same time. AND, love that they are playing together so nicely. I know I probalby just jinxed that one for you..sorry...
Oh gosh - I totally skip lines in books - once my middle one learned to read, he would not stand for it, but our little one still lets me get away with it - I even try to skip whole pages sometimes!
Thanks for the comments about eating - funny about Jack - hopefully he will outgrow that. Corbin will pretty much always eat fettucine with parmesan on it, so I keep that in the fridge and then just heat it up - and he will ALWAYS eat a frozen waffle - he has that for dinner often:) I just keep hoping if I don't start out with a separate meal for him, he will eventually start trying some of the things, but he truthfully pretty much eats no meat at all - occasionally a meatball in spaghetti or a pepperonie off pizza, but he even picks those off - he doesn't want cheese pizza, he wants pepperoni, but then he picks off the pepperonis! Too funny.
i always think, "don't make eye contact, don't make eye contact" as i slip out of the room,if eye contact is made then the alone time is ruined.

and yes, i wish to god tess would sit her fanny down for just 30 minutes. all she will watch is a tiny bit of elmo.

Um, totally understand!! I have felt like such a bad Mommy all week. Addie has been sick {bless her heart!}, but is so whiney and clingy that I don't even have time to go potty by myself!! I've even let her watch cartoons on rerun to get a moment of sanity, but no such luck! If it's not her, then it's Amelia that needs something! Sometimes my fave time of day is naptime!
Skipping lines in books or verses in songs; it's all the same :)
I will totally close the blinds early on days when I just wish the day away; and today as I type, the blinds are all closed.

Fiona isn't old enough for a lot of your tricks, but don't worry, I took notes.
She is only one and I have, at times, wished she would watch TV for just a few minutes while I make dinner. But really I'm glad she has no interest, a lot of the kids on my Babycenter birth board love watching TV and know the names of characters, and they're all 13-14 months old! Crazy.

I do, I do, I do!!! And skip lines, heck I skip pages!! It's getting hard with Connor b/c he knows the stories now, but colton is fair game!
I not only wish he would sit and watch TV, I pull out all the stops and put Blues Clues or Thomas in and it guarantees me at least 30 min. Sometimes I even do it a couple of times a day!
One of the really bad things I do is let Cason hold a toy in a store just so I can shop without him pitching a fit, even though I know there is going to be a huge fit when I take it away from him and put it back on the shelf. I look at it this way, I can deal with a fit the entire time I shop, or just at the end. I think he may have caught on to me because the last time I did that he ripped the package open so I had to buy it. Might need to find a new trick.
Yes, to all of the above mentioned things. My children are in the playroom right now, so I can do important things like check your blog!!! Oh--and I just asked my friend if I could "borrow" her nanny one day a week so I can run errands without my children(never thought that would happen)!!! You are an AMAZING mother and love to see that you are also normal.
I think Mommy's sanity is more important than whether or not a kid spends time watching TV. When my kids were little, they watched plenty of TV and now they are older and still both love it but they also love reading and many other things. Too much pressure on moms to do everything just right. I think when kids see a happy mom, that inspires them to find their own way to be happy.
It's part of life, and we ALL do it! Hang in there! Before you know it, they'll be teenagers and will hardly want to be in the same room with you. That's when you'll long for the days like today.

I thought about you today while I was switching EVERYONE'S spring/summer to fall/winter clothes. I thought, "how is that woman so damn organized? This has taken me 5 hours, and I don't even have any munchkins tugging my shirt...."
I've definitely skipped lines in a book before. But never did the others. Then again, I only have 1 so I don't have my hands full. Hope you have better days.
