The Latest At The Starnes House

Let's see.....

We went to the Farmer's Market last week and found some goodies. Hadn't been in almost a month and was feeling the withdrawals! Look at these heirloom tomatoes. Aren't they heavenly? My grandmother had a vegetable garden and almost always had a fresh tomato sliced, salted and peppered for dinner. So good.

My bounty. Made spaghetti casserole on Sunday and then chicken tacos this evening....will grill the zucchini and squash this weekend.

Visited Worlds of Fun on Saturday....always a good time.....but HOT. I'm so tired of this heat. Blake said I have to stop complaining about it, so that's enough of that.

Summer activities (and hopefully the heat....oops!) are coming to a close. Vacation Bible School.....travel.....Carter's reading program.....done. School starts on Thursday!

Anyone else have a stack of toddler undies perched above her kitchen sink? I know. It's a fabulous life I'm living here. I'm thrilled to say Jack is on track and doing well. We're venturing out tomorrow for his first "undie outing".....wish us luck! Lainey is slowly catching on...going potty often, but I'm not nearly as comfortable with her. Glad we got a jump start, but she'll be in pull ups for a while. Baby girl isn't even 2 yet....no rush.

And, back to school....how is this for a first impression? I went to register Carter and was handed this calendar. Filled in with the school year's events, days off, etc. AWESOME. I added some cute ribbon and hung it on the wall. Set 'til next summer!

PS - my family (Mississippi and Florida) always have fresh sliced tomatoes with salt at every meal! Reminds me of my Granny's house!

How did you get Jack to be so still for the picture?

Jennifer, he's not a caged animal! Lainey was actually the pest....just look at her "kiss my booty" look in this pic.

More to come....with equally irritated looks by Lainey!

Love the new header. Those tomatoes made my mouth water, nothing better than a fresh tomato with mayo, salt and pepper. YUMMY.

I need to give you my homemade spaghetti sauce recipe, to die for.

LOVE your new header! So precious!

Glad potty training is going well!

I saw a billboard for a new farmers market in North Richland Hills --- I think you might have inspired me to make a trip there. I saw the billboard on the way to church the other night--I said, "hmmm. a farmer's market..kids we are gonna have to go there!" They said, "what's a farmer's market and why would we go there?" Poor kids don't know anything outside of target and walmart!

The new header pic is great. Is that the make-out one? Your haircut (and color?) look fab!!!! Makes me want to wear mine more curly. Good luck with the potty training.
