The Land Of BBQ

I'm not a huge barbecue fan, but Blake and Caroline are. And, since we are living in KC, we are embracing it.

Everyone has his favorite.....Jack Stack.....Gates....and one more I can't recall right now. So, we tried Jack Stack while Caroline was in town. It's in The Plaza and is quite swanky for a bbq joint. I was impressed.

The place:

Jack headed to the bar to get things started.

Holy delicousness. Even I could enjoy that. We had an idea of the flavoring due to some sauce Shannon sent us for Christmas. And, Blake's company uses them to cater quite a bit. He even made the corn dish below for our holiday dinner.

I ordered two of their sides instead of a meal because I much prefer these options. Cheesy corn bake and cheesy potato bake. Yep, you gained 2 pounds just by looking at them. It was worth it, though, right?

Everyone enjoyed the meal.....the kids were well behaved....and Lainey held her baby the entire time. Ate with her right hand so she didn't have to put her down. That, my friends, is even sweeter than the sauce.

Can't wait to try the next place.....when Caroline is back in town!

BBQ is a big thing here in the Carolinas too but it's a vinegar based sauce. I'm not a fan either. Every now and then but I prefer this BBQ I grew up with is more of a Memphis style.
As for the boots...do you think Jack will take them off as it gets hot this summer?? too cute!

Great Casey! Now I'm gonna be craving BBQ. And I'm from Memphis which means TX BBQ sucks! Luckily QVC sells Corky's BBQ online and they ship it right to you-my personal fave.

Again something we have in common. I love me some bbq but prefer the sides even more.

Isn't KC sauce sweeter than Texas. Please educate us Texans on the difference.

Laine and the baby...sigh.....she and Tess will get along just fine...

I want BBQ so bad right now! That rack looked so good...so did the ribs...

no seriously though...I would use that bread to mop up BBQ sauce and call that a meal! Yummy!
