It's Time

Readers from last year and those close to us know about our unhealthy obsession with this movie, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. We simply cannot get enough of it and watch it repeatedly throughout the holiday season.

The Grizwold family is close to our hearts because we're a bit crazy like them and LOVE the holidays like Clark. We also exchange dickies and unusual gifts each season. Caroline got Blake a beauty two years ago. See it here. Our love for this kooky family started long before we married and thank goodness we were both on board because it was a deal breaker if either of us didn't love it.

Much like Seinfeld.

And, for those of you who have known me for a very long time will remember I had a dog in college (who allowed that?) named Clark. After Clark Grizwold. So, yes, I've been crazy for years.

Anyone looking for a gift to give us? The moose antler eggnog mug set and punch bowl would fit right in. Or, a dog named Snot.

So, we typically start watching around Thanksgiving, but Carter and I got started early this year. We're working on a charity project I'll post about soon and it got us in the mood for our old favorite. This is also one of the 2 qty PG-13 movies we allow him to watch (other being Titanic), so he gets a little thrill out of being so daring! We made popcorn and snuggled up to watch this old movie , so we're officially ready for the holiday season. Just posted a ticker on the sidebar to count the number of times we watch this silly movie. I assure you, by Christmas, you will think us stranger than you do now.

Slight panic as we started our evening. After digging the movie out of the back of our entertainment center, we put it in the VCR only to have it not work. So, we fished out the following items and were finally successful. Thank you, Jack, for adding a little stress to the evening.

And, yes, we still use the VHS tape Blake acquired years and years ago. Kinda like our TV. Flat screen, plasma, HD, whateverelseyoucanpurchasethesedays? Nope. We kick it old school around here. If it's not broken, why fix it? (Note - Blake has been trying for YEARS to break our family room TV.)

"Save the neck for me, Clark." We love this movie, too. By the end of Christmas Day, one or more of us have quoted most of the movie....definitely a classic!

Carter had it on this morning when I came downstairs and I just heard that very line! So glad you love it, too.
