Christmas Eve

A very busy day here at the Starnes house. Lots of running around this morning, after our Christmas dinner menu took on such a drastic change from years past. Instead of the traditional turkey and casserole combination, we're including the following:

Ham
Cheese and Corn Bake
Fresh Green Beans with Crumbled Blue Cheese and Hazelnuts
Hashbrown Casserole
Multigrain Rolls

And, to add to the list of new recipes, I'm attempting a re-creation of GMom's chocolate sheet cake using The Pioneer Woman's Best Chocolate Sheet Cake Ever. Will I match hers? No way. Will I match Terri's? Not even close. But, I will try.

And, while we're talking sweets....let it be known that Terri, the most disciplined eater/exerciser ever, can make a mean sheet cake and lots of wonderful cookies, too. I don't know how she does it because she can bake with the best of them. But, I guarantee you she has a nibble and that's it. How I would love that will power.

Why the picture of our elf, you ask? Because today marks his dissent back to the north pole. He's had a busy month here watching the little ones and keeping Santa informed of their good and bad behavior. However, elves must return to help with the big night ahead packing the sleigh, delivering presents and more. Wouldn't make sense to see him here tomorrow. So, off he goes and he'll return next year.
